628 flood victims in Mulu receive assistance

Marudi welfare office staff together with firefighters, JPAM and police personnel lifting up the food items into the helicopter to be delivered to flood victims in Mulu area yesterday.

MARUDI: 628 flood victims from 179 doors of longhouses in the Mulu area received food assistance from the Marudi welfare office yesterday.

According to Marudi’s Social Welfare Assistant, Nur Susheilla Bte Abdullah, a total of 285 packets of food items such as rice, sugar, salt, instant noodles, coffee, tea, biscuits, canned foods and cooking oil were delivered via a helicopter flight yesterday morning.

The areas that were affected by floods including Kampung Melinau Mulu (264 people), Kampung Batu Bungan (312 people), SK Batu Bungan (34 people), Batu Bungan clinic (17 people) and one community rehabilitation centre (one person).

Among those present helped delivering the foods assistance were Baram District Police Chief, DSP Gabriel Risut, Marudi Fire and Rescue Department Chief, Maureen Sim Ah Lian, Sarawak Administrative Officer of Mulu district, SAO Rebecca, Marudi Social Welfare Assistant, Aggus anak Jeffery, firefighters, police personnel and civil defense department (JPAM).
