SIBU: A ‘Colours of Sarawak Photography Contest 2024’ organised by the Photographic Society of Sibu (PSS) drew 1,513 entries.
According to PSS president, Peter Lee, the contest, held from May 28 to June 28, has truly been a journey of discovery, creativity, and inspiration.
“Over the past month, we have been amazed by the incredible response from photographers across Malaysia. Each photograph has shown the unique and beautiful aspects of Sarawak.
“These photos highlight not only the natural beauty of our land but also our rich cultural heritage and the vibrant spirit of our people.
“There are 37 winners whose 65 exceptional works stood out from among many excellent entries,” he stated at the prize-giving ceremony here Sunday afternoon (July 28).
Bukit Assek assemblyman, Joseph Chieng handed over the top three prizes of each category which offered cash of RM3,000, RM2,000 and RM1,000, respectively.
There were also 10 consolation winners of cash RM200 each for every category.
Lee was grateful to the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts for its sponsorship through the Heritage, Arts, and Culture Facilitation Fund for the fifth time.
Meanwhile, the contest’s Culture category was won by Lu Kae Ching followed by Aylwin Lim Kheng Siang, and Mak Sen Fatt.
In the Adventure category, Mak Sen Fatt took the first prize, Fends John Niri, second, and Chew Chun Hian, third.
The Nature category’s first prize winner was Hubert Lam Soon Loon followed by Hu Toh Kai, and Yeo Cheng Khung.
For the Food category, Noralina Abdullah @ Song Ai Ling was declared the first prize winner, Wong Tze Kim second and third placing went to Foo Tai Ling.
Ling Sie Houng, Leong Heng Tak and Tan Song Wei were the top three winners in the Festival category.
