SIBU: Firemen had to cut the arrowhead of a house gate to set a 72-year old woman free yesterday.

The arrowhead of the aluminium gate of her house pierced her right thigh when she attempted to climb over it to go out.

State Fire and Rescue Department said according to the woman’s son, he had been keeping the gate’s key so as to prevent her from going out of their house in Jalan 1B, Indah Barat.

This was because previously when she went out of the house, she could not remember her way home.

The department said according to her son, the old woman, Wa Ai Hua, is senile and is short of memory.

When her son was not around yesterday morning, she took the risk to climb over the gate. However she slipped and the arrowhead of the gate pierced into her right thigh.

The department said they received a distress call at 10.31am “and firemen have to cut the arrowhead to get her off the gate”

“She was later rushed to the hospital for treatment,” the department said.
