KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 744 new Covid-19 cases and five deaths on Monday (June 14).
This brings the cumulative total number of cases to 56,187 with a death toll of 356.
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 413 or 55.51 percent of the newly registered cases were detected in five districts, namely Kuching, Bintulu, Tatau, Sibu and Kapit.
“The districts that recorded cases today (June 14) were Kuching (121), Bintulu (103), Tatau (74), Sibu (63), Kapit (52), Sarikei (47), Subis (45), Song (44), Sri Aman (31), Meradong (26), Tanjung Manis (22), Lubok Antu (20), Miri (20), Lundu (16), Mukah (13), Telang Usan (11), Serian (six), Samarahan (five), Bukit Mabong (four), Pakan (four), Bau (three), Kanowit (three), Tebedu (three), Julau (two) , Dalat (two) and one each in Selangau, Sebauh, Betong and Beluru,” it revealed in its daily Covid-19 update.
SDMC said a total of 61 cases showed signs and experienced symptoms of Covid-19 infection during screening.
“Meanwhile, a total of 588 people are individuals who have been given quarantine orders,” it added.
Of the five new death cases, SDMC said three were receiving treatment at Sibu Hospital.
“The three deaths involved a 55-year-old man who tested positive on May 18, a 56-year-old man who tested positive on May 21 and a 50-year-old man who tested positive on May 15,” said SDMC.
It added that the other two death cases were reported in Kuching district.
“Both cases were receiving treatment at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH). The first case is of a 72-year-old woman who tested positive on June 13 while the second case was an 85-year-old man who tested positive on June 11,” it said.
