BINTULU: The 7th Battalion of the Border Regiment was recently involved in delivering aid to the fire victims of Rumah Ugop Umpin in Nanga Sigu, Pandan, Sebauh.

Its commanding officer, Lt Col Shahrin Mohd Nahrawi, said that the relief operation was coordinated by the Bintulu Division Resident’s Office and involved relevant government agencies.

According to him, the battalion deployed a three-ton truck with seven personnel to deliver essential items such as mattresses, pillows, and drinking water.

“This kind of assistance can further strengthen the relationship between the military and the public, as well as other government agencies,” he said in a post on the 7th Battalion of the Border Regiment’s Facebook page.

In the incident on June 2, a total of 325 residents of Rumah Ugop Umpin were left homeless after the 43-door longhouse was completely destroyed by fire at around 12.41 am.

However, no casualties or injuries were reported.
