KUCHING: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will be holding its first ‘Dragon and Lion Dance Cultural Parade’ this coming Saturday (Dec 17).

Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng told a press conference here today that the parade is organised by the Clan Ho Association (Loh Kong) Kuching Sarawak and co-organised by the Gu Jin Long Shi Shanzhuang.

The event is funded by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts.

“I was informed that this year we have the dragon and lion dance parade comprising 80 teams from various associations statewide.

“The parade will start from MBKS Building at 6 pm and will make its way around the city through major roads, including Jalan Padungan, before calling it a day at the Waterfront,” he said.

Wee added that the dragon and lion dance parade is a celebration of Sarawak’s multi-cultural society.
