BINTULU: The state marine police seized 800 litres of unlicensed fuel (petroleum) in an operation dubbed ‘Op Landai’ yesterday.

Its Marine Police Region Five commander ACP Salehuddin Mat Zaman said acting on police surveillance and information gathered, police inspected a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle at around 8.30am.

He pointed out that the vehicle driven by a man was found carrying a blue tank that contained 800 litres of the gasoline.

“Initial investigations revealed that the driver failed to produce any valid nor authorised documentations to store the fuel and thereby allegedly committed an offence under Supply Control Act 1991 for having unauthorised control items,” he said in the statement.

Salehuddin also said police seized the vehicle and the fuel estimated to be worth RM46,664.

The case has been handed over Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) for further action.
