KUCHING: The Gawai-Raya Sumbangsih is a programme to appreciate the sacrifices of staffers of enforcement departments especially those who will be working during the festive season, said Welfare, Community Well-Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah at a handing over ceremony of biscuits packs to the departments and agencies involved, today.
“It is also to create good ties between the departments involved which work together when unforeseen incidents happen during the festive season.”
Fatimah also hoped that the biscuit packs will still be intact and not damaged when the recipients received them.
This year, 8,000 biscuit packs will be distributed to 10 departments and agencies in the state compared to eight last year.
It is also an annual programme of the state government which started in 1990 through the Women’s Bureau which is now known as Sarawak Women and Family Department or Jabatan Wanita dan Keluarga Sarawak (JWKS).
