KUCHING: A total of 832 Health Department personnel in the state received Excellent Service Award (South Zone) 2016 yesterday.
The ceremony, held at Sarawak Islamic Complex in Jalan P. Ramlee was graced by State Federal Secretary Datuk Mohd Zuki Ali, accompanied by State Health Department Director Dr. Jamilah Hashim.
Zuki in his opening remarks stated that the Award given was an award of excellence in the ability of the State Health Department personnel to always deliver the commitment and efforts to enhance their productivity and quality workmanship.
“It also makes government services remain relevant and reliable by the people where it meets their needs and expectations.
“Hopefully, this recognition will resurrect devoted service spirit to the country and strengthen our resolve to work harder with full commitment in the future to enhance the image of the State Health Department.
“However, what is more important, those who were selected as the Award recipients should be a role model for others to continue to work hard in order to achieve targeted goals,” he pointed out.
He added, 2017 was a tough year for Government Department as a whole because 2017 is a year of implementation and year of delivery for which they need to look from all angles more orderly.
In that regard, Zuki called on all civil servants, to provide high quality services by devoting their full commitment, integrity, punctuality, providing safe services, effective, equitable, efficient and customer-centric.
He said, as personnel of the Health Department, the main task was to give or deliver the best health services to the public.
“We have to be attentive and always sensitive to the needs of our customers as well as improving Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), primarily involving crisis management and implementation of government projects.
“To meet the high expectations of the people on government services, a more creative and innovative approach should be made such as redesigning work processes (process re-engineering) and value-based management (doing more with less resources), that are expected to be able to optimise the expenses of Ministry of Health (MOH) in line with the National Transformation 2050 (TN-50),” he stressed.
Apart from that, he advised that in carrying out the tasks entrusted, always adhere to the integrity of practice ‘Betulkan Yang Biasa, dan Biasakan Yang Betul’ and always maintain the good name and services image by keeping the behaviour and conversation.
“Remember also the message of ‘Fikir Dulu Sebelum Tular (Viral)’ on something because we are bound by Akta Rahsia Rasmi 1972,” Zuki advised.
Meanwhile, Jamilah quoting the text message of Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. S Subramaniam said, the services provided must have the characteristics of concern and caring, conformity with MOH motto, ‘Kami Sedia Membantu’ and ‘To Cure Sometimes, To Relieve Often, To Comfort Always’.
She added that two key principles of effective service delivery namely ‘Cepat, Tepat dan Integriti’ (CTI) and ‘Produktiviti, Kreativiti dan Inovasi’ (PKI) must be understood by MOH personnel.
Jamilah also urged the Health Department personnel to work harder, making the maximum contribution and show their best potential to improve the good name of the State Health Department with full responsibility, for what is planned to be implemented towards achieving the vision, mission and objectives.
