SIBU: A total of 85 members of Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) from the North Zone including its branches in Bintulu, Niah, Kemena, Limbang, Lawas and Miri participated in the briefing on Management of Bumiputera Court Cases (Module M1) held at a hotel.
The briefing touched on ‘Traditional Marriage and Related Issues’ organised by the Sarawak Bumiputera Court (Chief Minister’s Department).
Among the agencies involved were the Sarawak Customs Advisory Council, Sarawak Bumiputera Court, National Registration Department, and Sarawak Legal Aid Department.
Also present were Sarawak Bumiputera Court Registrar Datuk Michael Dawi Alli and SIDS president Datuk Alice Jawan.
According to Alice, this was the third series of briefings after it was held in March and involved members from the central region.
“This briefing is aimed at providing relevant knowledge to Dayak women in SIDS and this is one of our programmes this year,” she told reporters in Sibu here yesterday.
Alice, who is also the Utilities Ministry permanent secretary, revealed that the state government supports SIDS to get two blocks of shophouses in Kuching to operate as its headquarters.
“Together we are united through ‘1Suara 1Sarakup’ to realise both our dreams in making sure that SIDS remains relevant to Dayak women in the state,” she added.
