MIRI: Students aged 16 to 17 numbering 900 received their second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at the Curtin University Hall vaccination centre (PPV) on Friday (Oct 1).

The minister in charge of Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC), Datuk Lee Kim Shin, disclosed that the students were from Kolej Vokasional Miri, SMK Dato Permaisuri and SM Pei Min.

“I’m pleased with the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme held here as there was no congestion despite this PPV having to cater to 900 students today.

“I would also like to express my gratitude to the members of the Parent-Teacher Association, who volunteered to help facilitate the process,” he said during his visit to the PPV.

On another note, Lee reminded that although Sarawak was now in Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan, the community should not take safety for granted even though they were fully vaccinated.

“Miri DDMC would like to emphasise to everyone to remain vigilant and comply with the standard operating procedures by adopting the 3W (Wash, Wear, Warn) and also avoid the 3S (avoid crowded, confined areas and chatting in close range).”

He also urged those 18 and above yet to receive their vaccines to do so at any public PPVs.
