CYBERJAYA: Over 1,000 students from 69 countr ies graduated from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology here last Thursday. This convocation brought the tot a l numbe r of g loba l graduates from the university to approximately 9,000 this year. Similar convocations were held in Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland earlier this year.
On December 22 , 2017, Limkokwing University Cambodia will also hold its convocation ceremony in Phnom Penh. The ceremony last Thursday marked the start of the graduates’ fresh careers after receiving their scrolls from Limkokwing University at Putrajaya International Convention Centre. 1,200 students received their scrolls from the university in July this year.
About 90% of the graduating classesare from overseas countries, emphasising the internat ional appeal of L imk o kw i n g U n i v e r s i t y ’ s distinct approach in creative technology. The theme for thi s year ’s graduat ion i s “Des ign Your Future”.
Limkokwing University has gained the at tent ion of internat ional agencies such as the United Nations, World Bank and Commonwealth for its unique blend of international s t u d e n t s f o u n d s t u d y i n g together in the univer s i ty’s campuses. The achievement has made the university the premier model for globalised education. The recognition from international agencies was pointed out by Dr. Puvan J Selvanathan, President, UN Global Compact Network, Malaysia, in his speech during the graduation ceremony.

China’s first “One Belt, One Road” partnership in special needs education For the f i rst t ime ever, 15 he a r ing – impa i red s tudent s f rom Zhengzhou Inst i tute of Technology, who had travelled abroad to spend six months studying English language at Limkokwing Universi ty, was chosen as a part of the partnership between the two educational institutions under China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative.
The par tner ship fos tered further bilateral ties between Malaysia and China. Limkokwing University is the first and only education partner under the initiative that was discussed during the Malaysian Prime Minister’s visit to Beijing, China, earlier this year. Honorary Doctorate for Leadership An Honorary Doctorate in Leadership was conferred upon Professor Datuk Dr. Raduan Hj. Che Rose, President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Professors Council in the Prime Minister’s Department.
The recognition paid tribute to years of dedication given to the National Professors Council and to Dr Raduan for his contributions to Malaysia. After completing his career in the academic world, Dr. Raduan was made the Chief Executive of the National Council of Professors working directly under the Prime Minister.
The council was created as national think-tank with the objectives of conceptualising and assisting in the development of the nation with the strengths of Malaysia’s professors. Through the council, he is able to draw upon inspirations and ideas from the collective skills, knowledge, exper ience and talents of 2,700 professors who are considered specialists in every segment of the economy. More than 30,000 students study at Limkokwing University’s 12 campuses in Asia, Africa and Europe.
Its main campus in KL’s tech-city, Cyberjaya, alone holds close to 10,000 students and 80% of them are from foreign countries.
