KUCHING: A total of 91 individuals had to be evacuated to temporary relief centres (PPS) in the district due to the continuous downpour since Friday.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) reports that 18 families from Kampung Sinaran Lumut and Kampung Sungai Bedaun were among the flood victims.
In order to provide the victims with temporary shelter, the relief centres, namely the Dewan Sinaran Lumut and the Dewan Kampung Sungai Bedaun, were opened last night (Mar 11) at 6pm and 8pm, respectively.
As of 7am today, the Dewan Sinaran Lumut PPS accommodates 31 victims from seven families, while the Dewan Kampung Sungai Bedaun PPS houses 60 victims from 11 families.
Meanwhile, two other PPS were also opened in Betong and Miri to provide shelter for victims of fire incidents.
The PPS in Betong, Dewan Komuniti Kampung Tambak, has been sheltering 10 victims involving four families since Mar 5.
In Miri, the Dewan Kampung Masyarakat Lereng Bukit PPS has been providing shelter for 48 victims, involving nine families, since Mar 10.
