SAMARAHAN: 92 graduates received their Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education Teaching and Learning from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) here yesterday.
During his speech, UNIMAS Vice Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi said that since its introduction in 2003, the programme had produced a total of 449 graduates which also included this year’s graduates.
“Looking back, this programme was offered to all new academic staff members who were not trained specifically in the art of teaching and learning in UNIMAS.
“In line with the university’s vision to achieve excellence in the field of teaching, we have seriously looked into and taken into consideration the quality of teaching and learning on the campus as it is a reflection of the university,” he said. Dr Mohamad Kadim explained that the programme comprised eight courses that had been carefully designed and could be completed within a year.
“The curriculum for this programme, a combination of course work and practice, is aimed at training our academic members in a formal and organised manner.
“Through this programme, they gain exposure systematically in various aspects,” he said during the 11th Convocation Ceremony for Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education Teaching and Learning, held at the university here yesterday.
The scrolls were presented by UNIMAS Board of Directors chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie.
