KOTA SAMARAHAN: Ninety-six graduates received their scrolls during Universiti Malaysia Sarawak’s (UNIMAS) third convocation ceremony of the Professional and Executive Programme (PEP), in line with its commitment to meet current industry needs and support professionals in enhancing their skills and knowledge.
UNIMAS Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit said UNIMAS is dedicated to providing diverse learning pathways, whether formal, non-formal, or informal.
This, he said, aligns with the government’s aspiration to develop a skilled, knowledgeable, and trained workforce through upskilling initiatives, allowing workers to attain new skills through continuous learning to advance to higher skill levels (reskilling).
“UNIMAS Business School (UBS), as a wholly-owned subsidiary of UNIMAS, has played a crucial role in empowering human capital development through this PEP.
“These programmes are specifically designed for professionals, featuring modular learning, weekend lectures, and industry-aligned courses.
“With a flexible, modular learning approach, graduates are equipped with up-to-date knowledge to face the challenges of a technology-driven industry,” he said.
He delivered these remarks during the third PEP convocation ceremony at DeTAR Putra UNIMAS today (Nov 8).
During the ceremony, 26 graduates received their Executive Master’s, 23 Executive Bachelor’s, 17 Professional Diplomas, and 30 Professional Programmes (Level 3) and Professional Certificates.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the graduates, encouraging them to embrace continuous learning and enhance their professional competencies.
He emphasised that the skills they acquired would enable them to add significant value to their respective industries and drive innovation within organisations.
“Remember, your educational journey extends beyond earning a certificate; it is a lifelong pursuit that empowers you to make a meaningful impact.
“I wish you all the best as you continue on your path, fostering growth and positive change in your industries,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dr Hata announced the participation of the Faculty of Engineering and Qadim Hub, the University’s Sustainability Centre, for the first time since the introduction of PEP in 2020.
This, he asserted, proves that PEP is growing in popularity among students, along with an increasing number of new Strategic Collaboration Partners (SCPs).
