KUCHING: About 98 per cent of the 93 Covid-19 Delta variant cases detected in Sarawak to date, are in categories one and two, says State Health Department director Datuk Dr Mohamed Sapian Mohamed.
He said cases under the two categories were stable and did not require oxygen assistance.
“Only one case requires to be treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is currently stable.
“To date, as well, no death has been reported involving the Delta variant case,” he said in a statement here, today.
Dr Mohamed Sapian said of the total number of Delta variant cases reported since May, Kuching recorded the highest with 69, followed by Samarahan (10 cases), Serian (six), Sri Aman (five), Miri (two) and Sibu (one).
“The department urges the public in Sarawak not to be complacent. They should remain vigilant and adopt the recommendations and health advice at all times as a new normal in their daily lives.
“The public is also encouraged to wear two layers of face masks if they are in high-risk areas. Let us together break the Covid-19 chain of infection,” he added. – Bernama
