KUCHING: The Kuching Community College has produced 987 graduates as of September this year, signifying the success of the college since its inception in 2001.

Its director Sumbang Mandaw highlighted that the number indicates the success of this college in providing quality Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and cultivating the potential of students.

“We have also produced successful alumni in the field of entrepreneurship, including MyStudio Mukah manager Lyona Stephen and T.H.A.Z Company manager Siti Tazilah Narodin.

“To this end, I would like to take this opportunity to celebrate the commitment, and cooperation by everyone involved in making this a reality,” he said

He said this when officiating at the Student Talent Exploration Carnival in conjunction with the 22nd Anniversary of Kuching Community College at Kuching Community College here yesterday (October 8).

Mandaw further added that the college pledged to contribute back to the community and society through a variety of programmes involving the students and staff of the college.

“These include the Architectural Technology Certificate Programme, Asbuilt Drawing, Production of House Plans and Models in collaboration with the Genturong Tatai Sungai Pasir Selang Ulu Matang Residents Association, Matang which took place on Aug 23.

“We have also organised a Fashion and Clothing Certification Programme to supply uniforms to female asnaf students at SMK Demak Baru.

“This is testament of our dedication in helping those in need while bringing good to the local community,” he added.

The carnival, organised by Kuching Community College, was held with the aim of developing and showcasing students’ talents.

The event included an e-sports competition (Mobile Legends: Bang Bang), a photography competition, TikTok challenge, T-shirt design and a colouring competition for children, in addition to the food sale.

Also present were director of the Youth and Sports Department (JBS) Lamat Nyalau represented by Hazwan Salleh Baihaki and U.R.W Consortium Sdn Bhd project director David Andrew Balai.
