THE 18th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) adjourned sine die at 4.55pm yesterday after eight days.
On the first day, the Strata (Subsidiary Titles) Bill 2019 tabled by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, was debated and approved to replace the current Strata Titles Ordinance 1995 (Chapter 18).
The same day also witnessed the Strata Management Bill tabled by the Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian which was unanimously passed.
The highlight of the first day was the Supply (2020) Bill 2019 which was presented by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The second day witnessed the Natural Resources and Environment (Amendment) Bill 2019 (tabled by Awang Tengah) and the Sarawak Heritage Bill 2019 (tabled by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah) which were passed.
On the same day, the Sarawak State Library (Amendment) Bill 2019 tabled by Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip to amend the Sarawak State Library Ordinance 1999 was also passed.
Another historic moment was recorded on November 6 when the motion by Violet Yong (PH-Pending) to take legal action against Petronas was rejected by Speaker Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar because it was short of ten days’ notice.
The motion of adjournment was tabled by Tourism, Arts and Culture Assistant Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting.
