GEDONG: Identifying and developing special needs children should be everyone’s responsibility, said International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development Assistant Minister Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais (pic).
Naroden, who is also Gedong assemblyman said, “It is our responsibility to ensure that these special children are cared for and educated. That way, they will become children who are able to live and be accepted by the local community.
“More importantly, they can enjoy the life and atmosphere that others enjoy and are capable of contributing to their own lives as well as to society,” he said while addressing the PDK Got Talent 2019 at Gedong Community Hall yesterday.
He pointed out that all
children in the Gedong Community Rehabilitation Centre (PDK) are some of the most special children.
“Everyone has his own privileges. Each one of them has something unique. If nurtured, practised and developed, it will become their strength and
talent.
“It does not matter if we have a physical or mental deficiency.
“What is important is that each of their (special children) talents need to be identified, developed, trained and
showcased.
“Hence, teachers should work closely with the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) to develop their talent, whether at school or at home,” he said.
Naroden noted that their interests and desires should not be restricted, but be encouraged so that they do not face
inferiority complex syndrome.
He was proud that the trainers in Gedong PDK were able to identify the talents available at the centre.
