RM3 million allocated to build Subis Open Stadium

MIRI: Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Abang Openg announced a state government contribution of RM3 million for the construction of the Open Stadium in Subis district to be implemented in stages.

He made the announcement at the ‘Majlis Ramah Mesra Aidilfitri PBB Miri 2017’ held here Monday evening.

He also informed that the state government would consider changing the name of Subis district to Sibuti in the future.

Earlier, Sibuti Member of Parliament Ahmad Lai Bujang as the Chairman of the ‘Majlis Ramah Mesra Aidilfitri PBB Miri 2017’ appealed to Johari to provide financial assistance for the improvement of infrastructure of dilapidated schools in the northern regions especially in Miri.

In his speech Johari who is also President of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) urged all PBB members to continue strengthening cooperation among party members to help boost development and progress in the state to a higher level.

The event was organised by Gabungan Parti Bumiputera Bersatu 5 Cawangan of Bekenu, Lambir, Piasau, Pujut and Senadin held in a prominent hotel here.

“Congratulations to all PBB members in Miri who are always closing the relationship between party members and making PBB a strong party in the north.

“Although the party leadership is always changing, the fighting spirit within each member must always remain strong and our struggle should be taken regardless of its own interests,” he explained, adding that the members needed innovation to drive Sarawak’s development faster.

Touching on the progress of the digital economy, Johari stated that he has a master plan on digital technology development in urban and rural areas in Miri.

He added that in line with Miri’s title as a Tourism City, promotion of tourism products in Miri would be widespread throughout the world through the efforts of the state government to upgrade the digital technology facilities.

Also present were wife of Chief Minister Datin Amar Dato Hajah Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang; Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas; Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan; Minister of Works Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and State Assembly Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar.
