MIRI: A door-to-door anti-rabies vaccination programme which is currently ongoing in this district until November 19, has been receiving a positive response from the public.
Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting lauded the vaccination programme and described it as a continuous effort by the state government to control and eliminate rabies in this district.
“It is a concerted effort,” he said yesterday during the programme at Jalan Acorus 7, Taman Delight here.
He remarked that the programme reflects the state government’s commitment in eradicating rabies.
Yesterday, a total of 36 personnel, led by Miri Division veterinary officer Dr Sylmie Al-Harir, were divided into 12 teams and despatched into various residential areas here.
“This programme was set up at Taman Tunku, Krokop, Senadin, Jee Foh and Pujut,” Dr Sylmie said.
Dr Sylmie also revealed that a total 2,381 dogs have been vaccinated since the commencement of the programme in January.
