62 children attend Jalinan Kasih programme

KUCHING: A total of 62 children, ranging from four to 17 years old, attended the ‘Jalinan Kasih Bersama Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah’ programme yesterday at Tabuan Tranquillity Phase 4 (TT4) here.

Toh Puan Norkiah, wife of former Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng, officiated at the programme yesterday.

The programme was organised by neighborhood watch (KRT) TT4 in collaboration with Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah.

KRT TT4 chairman Norizan Jili said the objective for the programme is to foster a sense of unity among residents of various races in the neighbourhood.

“We want to teach the younger generation to be a loving community. The more we give out, the more we get back.

“We also remember those special and unfortunate children who needs the community’s help.

“This is just the start of our programme and we will continue to organise more if there is an abundance of donations,” he told when met by reporters.

Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah principal Mohamad Iskandar Mohammed Tudin said, “We have a total of 84 children, however, only 62 were brought here as the others are still infants.”

The ceremony also witnessed Chicken Shak owner Siti Zuraida presenting a cheque contribution for the programme to Hajah Norkiah.

Apart from that, there was also a presentation of donations such as stationeries, clothes, toiletries, toys and cash to the children.
