KUCHING: A fire on an oil tanker berthed at the Demak Laut shipyard injured three workers today, according to the fire and rescue service authorities.
The workers, aged 20, 48 and 54, and three others were engaged in cleaning work when the incident happened at 8.45 am, said Sarawak Fire and Rescue Service assistant director of operations Tiong Ling Hii.
The injured were sent to the nearest hospital, he said.
Tiong said the unladen vessel is undergoing repairs and cleaning and the fire destroyed 25 per cent of the interior.
