KUCHING: Malaysia’s first hydrogen bus was on the road here yesterday carrying some 20 local journalists for a media familiarisation trip.
For that purpose, the bus travelled from Riverside Majestic bus stop to South-East Asia’s first integrated hydrogen production plant and refueling station at Pending Industrial Estate.
At the plant, the journalists were taken to see the hydrogen refueling station and briefed on the process of producing hydrogen in a tropical environment.
The facility has three zones ― Zone A, Zone B and Zone C. In Zone A is the hydrogen plant; Zone B has a gallery and management office; and Zone C has the refueling station.
The facility was constructed by Sarawak Energy Berhad in collaboration with Linde EOX Sdn Bhd and was declared open by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg last May.
The development of the plant and refueling station are part of efforts by the state government to leverage research and development to make Sarawak a high income state by 2030.
Yesterday’s tip was hosted by Sarawak Energy Berhad with support from Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC).
