KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is preparing to use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to transform its gallery.
Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the project was part of efforts to transform the state capital into a smart city.
“I think by early next year our gallery downstairs will be transformed into an AI technology gallery. At the moment we are getting into the concept of creating a smart city,” he told reporters after chairing a council meeting yesterday.
He also said that the work of upgrading and repairing historical sites would be necessary as part and parcel of tourism development.
“While enhancing technology, we must not forget our heritage and tourism sector because I think a lot of people have neglected the monument of our first hero.
“We will try to find and take back all the plates or make new ones and hope to present them during Remembrance Day on November 11 just like many years ago before the dedication was discontinued,” he said.
The upgrading and repair work, Wee said, would involve enhancing public facilities owned by MBKS. “We want to make our facilities as a place for family gathering,” he said.
