KUCHING: Kindness and generosity generate and lift up hope in those with tough lives regardless of race or religion.
In the true spirit of Christmas, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Satok deputy chairman, Shankar R P Asnani, said nothing was more important than celebrating the festival in unity.
“Fortunately for us, Sarawakians remain a beacon of multi-racial and multi-religious unity and harmony,” he told reporters after distributing Christmas gifts to traders at Medan Niaga Satok, Kubah Ria, yesterday.
While emphasising the importance of tolerance in maintaining racial and socio-political unity, Shankar said Christmas should be a time to spread love and joy.
Earlier on, SUPP Satok chairman Goh Leng Yew accompanied Shankar around the market to distribute 200 Christmas hats and bags to all hawkers at the weekend market.
