KABONG (Batang Maro): The construction of a road from the end of Kampung Batang Maro to Kalik (Jalan Pusa-Sessang) is expected to be completed by October this year.
Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor who inspected the site here yesterday said Batang Maro village is the only area in Beting Maro state constituency which does not have an access road.
“Residents here still use the river to go to Kabong and it will an exciting moment when the road is completed,” he said after a visit to the site yesterday.
He said information from the Saratok District Public Works Department (JKR) showed that the project progressed faster than its original schedule.
“The status in June showed that it was completed more than 48.88 per cent compared to 40.44 per cent as scheduled.
“One of the bridges on the road has been completed and one is still under construction, “ he said.
The project is an initiative of the State Government under a Special Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) which uses an allocation of RM1.5 million approved by a former Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Adenan Satem.
