SAMARAHAN: A soldier was killed after his motorcycle was involved in an accident at KM5, Jalan Datuk Mohd Musa last Sunday night.

Ahmad Shauqi Ismail, 26, was believed to based at the Muara Tuang military camp. He was travelling from Kota Samarahan to Kuching when the accident happened at 8.50pm.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu

said in a statement, “Initial investigations revealed that the victim was trying to cut lanes with another vehicle in a corner near Summer Shopping Mall.

“As a result, the victim lost control of his motorcycle and ended up on the left shoulder of the road. The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.”

He said the road was wet at the time of the accident.

The case is currently under investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
