KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kuching branch Women’s Section should now be ready to do their homework for the coming parliamentary election.
SUPP Kuching branch chairperson Datuk Lily Yong Lee Lee said that it would not matter when the election would be held; they must be ready to put in all efforts to win votes for the Barisan Nasonal (BN).
“We must be able to win more votes during the election,” she said during the SUPP Kuching branch’s Women’s Day celebration at Le Food Restaurant on Thursday night.
Yong also said that as SUPP Kuching Women’s Section was nearly 40 years since its formation, it should be more daring to move forward, be creative and be more daring to speak up.
“It is also very important for the SUPP women to know how they want the society to respect them. First, you must make sure you are respected by the society and only then you can argue with the people,” she said.
She said the image of women today would need to change and move foward with good thinking and better image.
“We should never use our peers to talk, but should use our own brain and ability, then we will be respected,” she added.
Meanwhile, SUPP Kuching branch Women’s chief Comrade Vicky Lim Chung Yien said women must always upgrade themself and keep healthy.
“As a woman, we are not only important to our family but also to today’s world. We take care of our children, husband and also our parents and not to forget, we also work for our living. It is not an easy work for us as a woman,” she said.
Also present were among the potential candidates for Bandar Kuching, namely, Jong Yean Ping and Stanley Lau Sie Tung.
