MUKAH: A state-level road safety campaign in conjunction with the coming Chinese New Year celebration was organised here yesterday.

The campaign among others, was aimed at raising awareness on the importance of road safety especially during festive season among road users.

Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo officiated at the event which was held at Jalan Boulevard in the vicinity of Menara Tinjau.

The event witnessed the distribution of 20 free motorcycle helmets to children and 18 units to adults.

The former Balingian assemblyman and other VVIPs also jointly distributed 300 goodies bag to motorists passing by at and around the ceremony site.

Also present were State Road Safety Department director Christopher Alex Boniface Barau, department secretary Mohamad Zakaria Abdul Wahab, Mukah Division Resident Hamdiah Bakir, Dalat and Mukah District Council walikota Kadir Jamil, Abang Hashim Abang Zainuddin who represented Mukah MP, Che Ghazali Arbi who represented Balingian assemblyman and Mukah Distric officer Shafrie Saili.
