KABONG: The Kabong International Kite Festival (KIKF) 2020 will be postponed, said festival chairman Mohd Chee Kadir.
The festival, which was supposed to be held on March 5 to 10, had to be postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Mohd Chee, who is also Kabong assemblyman, told reporters that despite all the preparations, it had to be postponed for the safety of the people.
“We have been informed of the postponement by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on Wednesday through the media.
“In addition to the KIKF, the International Kite Festival in Pasir Gudang, Johor and the International Kite Festival in Satun, Thailand were also suspended.
“Therefore, for the safety of the people and the visitors, we are committed to this decision,” he said.
However, Mohd Chee hoped that the festival could resume after the coronavirus outbreak was fully recovered.
KIKF, held at Pantai Tanjung Kembang, is an annual event in Kabong that involves more than 30 countries.
