KUCHING: Sarawak recorded four new Patients under Investigation (PUI) cases for COVID-19 yesterday bringing to 80 since Jan 10.

Two of the new cases were reported in Miri Hospital and one each in Sibu Hospital and Sarawak General Hospital.

A statement issued by the State Disaster Management Committee said 59 PUI cases were Malaysians, 18 Chinese nationals, one Thai national, one Indonesian and a Canadian.

Sixty-four of them had tested negative while the other 16 are awaiting laboratory test results. Of the 16 pending cases, 13 are Malaysians – seven at the Sarawak General Hospital, five in Miri and one in Sibu Hospital, while the other three are Chinese nationals (two at Sarawak General Hospital and one at Miri Hospital).

As of noon yesterday, the Health Department has screened 5,095 arrivals at various airports, land and sea entry points into the state.

The Health Department is again reminding those who had fallen sick (fever, coughing and breathing difficulty) within 14 days after returning from China to seek immediate medical treatment.

They must inform the doctors treating them of their travel history.

All doctors are to report any suspected cases to the nearest respective divisional/district Health Department using the notification form or they can send email to the state Health Department  Crisis Preparedness And Response Centre at  cprc_sarawak.gov.my or dial 082 443248.
