SARATOK: In order to disseminate accurate information about Covid-19, the Information Department Sarawak personnel often have to mingle with people such as those at public gatherings.
This can be risky as they are exposed to a wide range of potential communicable diseases.
The local District Information Officer Florence Sebastian Unting said their jobs could appear to be easy and simple, but that’s because they have been trained.
Before they go to the ground, the personnel prepare accurate information to be presented to the public.
“They risk being infected when dealing with the public, but we want to make sure that the public are made aware of the risks of Covid-19,” said Florence yesterday.
She said her staff members had been mobilised since Jan 28 and had travelled to 16 places including Kalaka, Krian and Kabong.
The department has been playing significant roles in disseminating information to the various communities through the implementation of its ‘Info on Wheels’ programme.
“For me, this programme is a great way to keep the public up to date on national and global issues,” she said.
