Kuching: Sarawak State Library will hold a ‘Pratuong Workshop: Bidayuh Traditional Musical Instrument’ on 6 August at 2.00 pm at the library’s Seminar Room 1 & 2, Level 1 in conjunction with the Sarawakiana Carnival 2017 that will be held from 4 to 6 August 2017.
The workshop will be facilitated by Arthur Borman, a musician from Kampung Annah Rais.
The purpose of this workshop is to give an exposure to the community especially the younger generation to have a better understanding on the Bidayuh traditional bamboo musical instruments which usually being played during special occasion.
In addition, it also encourage the people in Sarawak to preserve and enrich the traditional music from different races as well as to promote the local community on the services and educational activities offered by the Sarawak State Library.
Participation to this workshop is free however it is limited to 50 people only.
Also, in conjunction with the Sarawakiana Carnival 2017, there will be Sales and Exhibition on Sarawak Handicrafts ( 4 to 7August) and Sarawak Traditional Food
(4 to 6 August 2017) from 9.00am to 6.00 pm at the library’s Dataran and Lobby.
Varieties of unique and interesting Sarawak handicrafts and Sarawak traditional food will be sold throughout this carnival.
Members of the public are invited to join this workshop and to visit the exhibition on handicrafts and food sales.
