KUCHING: The Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) Sarawak is looking forward to work with the state government to improve the state’s public transportation service.

In welcoming the state government’s initiative to provide free school bus service, its new chairman Wong King Wei assured that LPKP Sarawak would support any good programme that benefitted the people of Sarawak.

“As long as there is no breach of any conditions to the existing school bus licences,” he said during his first press conference after for reporting duty at LPKP Sarawak headquarters in Bangunan Sultan Iskandar here yesterday.

Wong, who is Padungan assemblyman, assured that he would be in constant consultation with key industry players to facilitate smooth public transportation system.

“We will schedule periodic meetings with all the stakeholders so that we can trash out issues that they have been facing.  “We also would like to hear the comments and opinions as to how to improve our transport services,” he added.

Wong was appointed the new chairman of Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) Sarawak on Wednesday, succeeding Dr Lawrence Tseu who resigned on Dec 1st last year.

LPKP Sarawak is a key agency under the federal Ministry of Transport responsible for regulating the commercial vehicles and land public transport in Sarawak.
