MUKAH: Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib hopes that the current political turmoil in Malaysia would end soon.

She said the nation is currently in a political crisis which has directly affected the rakyat.

“Let us hope the best for Malaysia soon,” she said when officiating at the groundbreaking ceremony of a Chinsese arch project at the junction of Tiong Hua Hua Road here yesterday.

The RM150,000 project began immediately yesterday and is expected to be completed before June this year.

Hanifah was among the MPs called and interviewed by Yang di-Peruan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday and Wednesday following the current political crisis.

The current turmoil was triggered by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad when he resigned as prime minister on Monday and the country was plunged into a political crisis following the ruling Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition losing its majority in the Dewan Rakyat, as PH component Bersatu with 26 MPs and 11 MPs from PKR, another PH component, pulled out.
