BINTULU: The new Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Ulu Segan is expected to be completed on Feb 14 next year. Construction work began on Jan 24 last year.
When completed, the school will have 12 classrooms, two labs, a dining hall that can accommodate 150 people and a boy dormitory and a girl dormitory that can accommodate as many as 50 pupils each.
Minister in the Chief Minister ’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip last Friday attended a briefing on the development of the new school.
Also present were community leaders and Public Works Department (JKR) officials.
A new SK Ulu Segan is being built on higher ground following the regular flooding of the old school.
Talib thanked Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and the Sarawak government for approving the construction of the new school.
Among those present were JKR Northern regional manager Teo Nguong Leong, Bintulu JKR division engineer Lau Pit Hwa, Bintulu Resident Office’s representative Harun Hatta and Temenggong Haji Rosli Kamaruddin.
