SIMUNJAN: Eighteen families comprising 54 individuals from Kampung Simunjan Jaya had to vacate their houses due to flood and seek shelter at the temporary relief centre.
State Disaster Management Committee secretariat spokesperson Major Ismail Mahedin said the victims were evacuated Tuesday.
“All were sheltered at the Dewan Mesra Simunjan,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He added that the victims couldn’t return home as their houses were inundated.
By late yesterday the water had begun to recede.
Meanwhile in Kapit, Ismail said villagers of Kampung Long Busang, Belaga were affected by flood following heavy continuous downpour since Tuesday.
The school football field was under flood waters otherwise no property was harmed.
