ROBAN: Residents from four longhouses here showed their full support and commitment by participating in SK Sungai Nyiar’s gotong-royong programme in conjunction with an anti-dengue campaign yesterday.
The school’s headmaster Lumpoh Entamin said the programme was attended not only by the pupils but also their parents and the local community.
“I am proud of the involvement of the local community, particularly from Rh Near, Rh Jelupang Atas, Rh Jelupang Baruh and Rh Empayak,” he said.
He said the school needed such support because at the end of the day it was for the benefit of the children.
“The purpose of the programme is to get rid of potential breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitos,” he said.
In addition, he said such programme would strengthen the relationship between the school and the local community.
The school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) president Gawing Empeni said the association will continue to support the school’s activities.
