KUCHING: The Democratic Action Party (DAP) Disciplinary Committee yesterday terminated the membership of its Pangkalan Batu assemblyman Norhizam Hassan Bakteein Melaka for crossing over from the party to Perikatan Nasional.
Disclosing this, its chairman said the party also decided to terminate the membership of another two of its assemblymen, namely Tronoh assemblyman Yong Choo Kiong and Buntong assemblyman Sivbasubramaniam Athi Narayanan in Perak.
Both Yong and Sivasubramaniam had publicly announced they quit from the party, said Chong Chieng Jen, who is also Sarawak DAP chief, in a media statement yesterday.
The disciplinary committee advises all its members to disassociate themselves from these three defectors and that no member should accept any official position offered by the Perikatan Nasional.
Chong warned that the Disciplinary Committee would take the sternest action against defectors because nothing was more treacherous and worse than a betrayal of the people’s mandate.
