KUCHING: Three more Ramadhan Bazaars have been added in view of the coming Ramadhan month, says Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
“The first two bazaars are Medan Niaga Satok (Kubah Ria) and Medan Niaga Semarak (near Kampung Gita).
“Both bazaars will be handled by DBKU from the first day of Ramadhan until the last day.
“Three more bazaars have been added and will be handled by DBKU and the private sector namely, Sukma Ria, Bandar Baru Samariang, and Metrocity,” he said.
He also urged the public to give their cooperation during the Ramadhan month in light of the current Covid-19 pandemic.
“Practice good hygiene such as washing your hands. In case one is unwell, wear a mask to prevent any transmission.
“Those who are going to the supermarkets or shopping malls, the management is strongly urged to prepare hand sanitizers at each entry point as well as other health safety measures,” he said after attending a briefing on the proposed landscape development at Masjid Darul Hana yesterday.
The mosque and surau committees have also been advised to take the same precautionary measures and prepare hand sanitizers at entry points of religious buildings.
On news of Sarawakians attending a religious gathering at Masjid Seri Petaling, he said the government had already instructed them to register themselves at the nearest health department or clinic.
“Since Thursday, a lot of them have gone to Charles Brooke Memorial Hospital to register them and possibly, be isolated.
“For the time being, those who are suspected to be in contact are strongly told not to go any mosque or surau.
“Instead, register yourselves first at any clinic or health department to make sure that you are free from the virus,” he said.
It is believed that 500 Sarawakians were in direct contact with a Bruneian with the Covid-19 virus during the four-day gathering at the mosque from Feb 27 until March 1.
