SIBU: A man was seriously injured after being shot with a gun in front of a restaurant in Paradom near here late Sunday.
Sibu OCPD ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the victim was fishing in front of the said restaurant before he was interrupted by another man believed to be mentally ill.
“According to preliminary investigation, the victim hit the man with mental problems.
“A group of men came to the place in three vehicles, believed to be friends of the mentally-ill man.
“One of them proceeded to shoot the victim, before five to six of them escaped,” he said.
The victim suffered injuries on his face and drove to a private medical centre here for treatment.
According to ACP Stanley, the victim is now in stable condition and able to speak.
However, the exact cause of the incident is still unknown and the case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code.
