MIRI: Police here is setting up more roadblocks in this district during the movement control order (MCO), says its chief ACP Lim Meng Seah.
Lim pointed out that their effort is to help the government in minimising people movement during the period to help to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Lim said that a total of eight teams consist of Civil Defence force (APM), RELA and the police have been established to carry out operation dubbed ops Covid-19 during the MCO period.
“We would deploy our men to various locations within this district to carry out operation Covid-19, including Batu Niah and Bekenu,” he said.
During day time, patrol cars will be spotted around the city centre advising and ordering members of the public not to loiter around.
During MCO, public have been told to stay at home until March 31 as part of the government effort to contain the spread of the virus.
On Thursday night, a roadblock was conducted along the Miri-Pujut road to ensure that the public are not going out unnecessarily.
The roadblock started at 8.30pm and ended around three hours later.
Most of the public who were stopped during the roadblock told the police that they going out to purchase necessary items such as food.
