KUCHING: The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) carried out sanitisation work at three Buddhist temples here.
State director Khirudin Drahman said yesterday’s operations was done at Tua Pek Kong Temple in Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Hong San Si Temple in Ewe Hai Street and Hiang Thian Siang Ti Temple in Carpenter Street.
Disinfection work was also carried out at the Hui Sing hawker centre.
“Work will also be done at places of worship, regardless of religion.
“The main purpose is to ensure that such public places would not be the main place for the virus to continue to spread,” he said when met with reporters when conducting the disinfection work at Hong San Si Temple.
At the same time, he added “we had also sanitised Kuching International Airport and the quarantine centres, as well as hotels used as quarantine centres.”
Meanwhile, Federation of Chinese Associations of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions president Datuk Richard Wee expressed his gratitude to the agencies involved.
“On behalf of the Chinese community, we are very thankful to DBKU (Kuching North City Hall) and Bomba for helping us.”
