BINTULU: Owners and workers of two motorcycle workshops and a salon were among 17 individuals arrested for violating the movement control order (MCO) here on Wednesday.
Bintulu OCPD Supt Zulkipli Suhaili said the individuals, aged between 19 and 64, comprised 12 men and five women and they were detained in an operation from 10.25am to 10.07pm.
The motorcycle workshops in Jalan Tanjung Batu and Kampung Masjid, Jalan Abang Galau, and a salon in Sungai Plan, Tanjung Kidurong had been operating without authorisation during the MCO period.
Supt Zulkipli said the spot-check teams and personnel manning roadblocks were constantly monitoring the public’s movement to help the government’s efforts to break the Covid-19 pandemic chain.
He advised the public to comply with the MCO, stressing that police would not hesitate to take action against those who disobeyed the order.
