KUCHING: In conjunction with the Kuching Marathon 2017 (KM2017), the white cat statue in Padungan here has been dressed up in the marathon’s attire to boost support for the event.
The dressing up of the white cat statue was graced by the Mayor of Kuching City South Council (MBKS), Dato James Chan Khay Syn yesterday.
KM2017, which will be held on August 13 at Padang Merdeka Kuching, is the fourth Kuching Marathon since it first started in 2014.
This year’s event has attracted more than 10,955 runners from throughout the world compared to about 5,000 runners in the first marathon.
KM2017 is divided into four categories, namely, the 42 –kilometre full marathon, 21 kilometres, 10 kilometres and 5 kilometres.
KM2017 is organised by the Kuching Marathon Association and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports.
Also present at the simple dressing up ceremony for the white cat statue yesterday were MBKS Acting Secretary, Vincent Ang, Vice President of Kuching Marathon Association, Bong Kuet Foong, Event Director of KM2017, Liew Tang Chieh, Ambassador of KM2017, Philip Chua and General Manager of Plaza Merdeka, KM Cheah.
