KUCHING: Police have arrested 93 more persons for defying the movement control order (MCO) between 8am on Saturday and 8am yesterday.
State Commissioner of Police Datuk Aidi Ismail said Kuching recorded the most arrests with 50 offenders.
“This was followed by Miri with 14 arrests; Serian (nine); Sibu (six); Padawan (four); Bintulu (three); Lawas (two); and one each in Betong, Julau, Kota Samarahan, Lubok Antu and Lundu.
“The latest figure brings the tally of arrests made throughout Sarawak to 1,704 since Mar 18,” he said.
To date, the total number of persons charged in court stands at 1,059.
All offenders were detained under Section 186 of the Penal Code and Regulation 7(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within The Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020.
