DALAT: A total of 1,578 households from 14 villages here received special assistance from the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in the form of food baskets last Saturday.

The recipients are Kampung Medong Hilir with 153 households, Kampung Medong Hulu (192), Kampung Seberang (160), Kampung Kekan (91), Kampung Kekan Seberang (65), Kampung Sungai Kut (95), Kampung Sungai Kut Tengah (95), Kampung Kut Muara (261), Kampung Baru Cina (39), Kampung Baru (92), Kampung Brunei (70), Kampung Seberang (62), Kampung Tengah/Hilir (118), Dalat bazaar and Kut bazaar (75) and Taman Ceria (105).

The distribution was jointly organised by Dalat District office, Mukah Parliament Service Centre and Dalat Constituency Service Centre, before chairmen of Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) cum ketua kaum of the respective villages handled the final distribution to the households.

The amount (1,578) was part of the 3,733 food baskets in total allocated for Dalat constituency.

The special assistance was channelled through Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib and divided among three constituencies — Dalat, Balingian and Tellian — of the Mukah parliamentary constituency.

Community leader penghulu Peter Lai Sakol, who represented the villagers, thanked the prime minister as well as Haifah for the contribution.

Village chief Kim Bol of Kampung Medong Hulu also expressed gratitude for the contribution which he described as helpful in lightening the burden of the needy.
