KUCHING: During the conditional movement control order (CMCO) period, civil servants and essential service staff living in a different district from their place of work need only show their department pass or letter from their employer to travel between home and work.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that this group of staff include those living and working between Kuching-Samarahan, Kuching-Serian, Bau-Kuching, and so on.
“Aside from these cases, a permit from the police would still be required for inter-district travel,” he said at the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Covid-19 press conference at the old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building in Petra Jaya yesterday.
Meanwhile, he disclosed that since various economic sectors had been allowed to operate from May 12, the committee received 23,364 online notifications regarding operation.
“A total of 781 teams monitoring CMCO compliance are involved, headed by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and consisting of enforcement agencies such as Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), Civil Defence Force (APM) and the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela),” he said.
Uggah, who is also SDMC chairman, said that 2,745 locations had been inspected as of yesterday.
These included 2,113 premises (supermarkets, restaurants, factories, banks, government offices, and more), 86 terminals, and 546 other locations such as construction sites, public markets and places of worship.
