MIRI: Police have reminded those celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak this year not to abuse the government’s decision to relax restrictions during the conditional movement control order (CMCO).
“We are in a stage of CMCO where people are free to be outdoors, but please avoid gathering in groups exceeding 20 people,” Miri Police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said.
He warned that police would not hesitate to take stern action against anyone who failed to comply with stipulated regulations under the CMCO. Actions would include issuing summonses to the house owner or Tuai Rumah (TR) of a longhouse for hosting large gatherings.
Lim was met after carrying out an inspection on the standard operating procedure (SOP) at an eatery in Marina Bay here yesterday.
He reminded that recreational activities such as diving or fishing (except for traditional fishing), were still prohibited during the CMCO.
